Original Balinese Kecak drawing from Bali, Indonesia, dating to around 1940. Executed in black ink with red accents on paper. The composition depicts scenes from the famous Ramayana epic and the traditional Kecak monkey dance. All the dancers have red flowers behind their ears. The artwork is presented with a passe-partout and housed in a frame with glass. Due to the glass, some reflections are visible.
The Kecak dance, also known as the monkey dance or fire dance is one of Bali's best-known performances .
