Two traditional ceramic water jars (watrakan) made by the Karaibs, an Indigenous people of Suriname. These handmade vessels were used to store and cool drinking water. Their porous clay construction allows for natural cooling through evaporation, a practical method in Suriname’s tropical climate. Both jars are in good condition, showing minor signs of age and use. They are examples of early 20th-century tribal ceramics.
