Traditional rain cover from West Papua, Doberai Peninsula. The cover is made from pandanus leaves, stitched together with natural plant fibers. It is decorated with black, orange and red hand-stitched cotton. The entire rain hood is decorated with geometric patterns.

In addition to protection against rain, this cover was also used as a sleeping mat and for carrying a baby.

Collected in c. 1950.
