This rare antique Kali'na stool is an authentic work of the Carib (Kali’na) people of Suriname, dating to around 1900. Hand-carved from a single piece of wood.
With its low, elongated form this stool would have served both functional and symbolic purposes within Kali’na society. Such stools were often reserved for community leaders or elders, and could also carry spiritual significance.
Condition: Excellent patina consistent with age.
