This is a traditional woman’s ceremonial cloth from the Sikka Regency, Flores, Indonesia, known as Utang Mitang. It is a fine example of Flores tribal ikat, made using the warp ikat technique and dyed with natural indigo and morinda ( wugung).The cloth features a central ikat band on a deep black background, worn by women during important ceremonies. This Indonesian tribal textile is in good condition.
