This antique Javanese batik wall hanging features Arjuna, the heroic figure from the Mahabharata, shown in traditional wayang kulit (shadow puppet) style. The batik is made in the early 20th century using the batik tulis technique. The design is hand-drawn with wax and dyed in indigo blue and sago brown. Arjuna is dressed in a dodot (hip cloth), a sign of nobility and ceremony in Javanese culture.
